Laser Periodontal Therapy



Southbay Periodontics is pleased to announce that we now offer the Periolase MVP-7, the World's first digital dental laser to treat periodontal disease. The Periolase MVP-7 was specifically designed to treat gum (periodontal disease) and is the only FDA Approved laser gum treatment procedure.  This addition makes it possible for us to effectively treat gum disease problems and establish ideal conditions for healing the gums around teeth that have periodontal pockets in our office.

The Periolase MVP-7 laser now gives us a gentle and effective way to treat periodontal disease Without traditional cutting of the gums.  Patients who have this form of laser treatment report that they have little or no discomfort after this procedure.

A)   Perio probe indicates excessive pocket depth.

B)   Laser light kills bacteria and diseased tissue.

C)   Ultrasonic scaler and special hand instruments are used to remove root tarter.

D)   Laser finishes cleaning and sterilizing pocket which aids in sealing the pocket closed so new gems cannot enter.

E)   Reattachment of connective tissue to clean root surface, with a stable fibrin clot and gingival crest to create “a closed system”

F)    Bite trauma is adjusted

G)   New Attachment is regenerated. New bone and new ligament is formed and healing occurs.
